Like many developed nations, if a public Holiday falls on a weekend, the holiday is observed in the following Monday.

Tet Nguyen Dan is the most important holiday season in Vietnam that spans for about 6 days in 2013. Tet Nguyen Dan falls on the same day as the Chinese New Year as both Vietnamese and Chinese New Year are based out of the lunar calendar. Tet Nguyen Dan marks the first day of the year as per the lunar calendar. During Tet Nguyen Dan, public services, shops, and restaurants are closed.
